Today, this group would be considered a super trio. At the time, they were just 3 guys working for ECM and playing their music. Holland and DeJohnette are still with us, gladly. This is such a fresh departure from bop-oriented groups, as each individual makes an equal contribution and the whole is always greater than the sum of the parts. It's delicate, yet intense. Beautiful, then dissident. There was a Gateway 2 album (1977) and a reunion called Homecoming (1994), both on ECM. The careers of all these gentlemen will take them to the Hall of Fame. Amazing artists all.
